چکیده
This study analyses the causes of strong growth in agri-food exports Latin America between 1994 and 2019. To do this, a series gravity models are estimated, using as dependent variable 15 American countries to their 185 principal trading partners. The empirical specification is based on theory trade, according which, trade two determined by size both markets transport costs. Other variables have also been included, considering theoretical foundations proposed for model. We initially used PPML estimator since it method that provides estimates with best properties. later compared these results those obtained through OLS Heckman selection Our findings show explained factors supply demand, but latter plays more important role we evidence reverse home-market effect. Furthermore, can conclude creation regional agreements, such NAFTA, MERCOSUR, CACM, APEC, TPP, has significantly favoured region.

A Gravity Model for Exports from Iceland
This paper applies a gravity model to examine the determinants of Icelandic exports. The model specifications tested allow for sector and trade bloc estimation. Also, a combination of an export ratio and a gravity model is tested, as well as marine product subsamples. The estimates are based on panel data on exports from 4 sectors, to 16 countries, over a period of 11 years. Estimates indicate ...
متن کاملChina ’ s Global Growth and Latin American Exports
China’s global expansion has led to concerns amongst other developing country exporters that they will be displaced by Chinese competition in their export markets. The paper develops a new index to measure the extent of the competitive threat which countries face from China, which is then applied to empirical data on US imports from China and 18 Latin American countries. It also presents new es...
متن کاملThe Dynamics and Differentiation of Latin American Metal Exports
This paper investigates the propensity of exporters in certain primary commodity sectors to innovate and then attempts to measure the associated gains. The high degree of differentiation in metal products is giving rise to the potential for vertical upgrading for a substantial portion of Latin American export sales. Estimation of a demand system for U.S. imports shows that relatively high-price...
متن کاملBARRINGTON LECTURE 2009/10 Destinations of Irish Exports: A Gravity Model Approach
This paper uses a gravity model approach in order to analyse the geographical patterns of Irish exports. The gravity model in international trade has been demonstrated to be an extremely robust empirical method. The gravity model is first applied to aggregate Irish exports from 1980 to 2007. Distance is found to have a strong negative effect on exports. On the other hand, exports are positively...
